Patients will soon move to their new GP practices

Posted on:

We have been working extremely closely with NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (HIOW ICB) to close the practice and allocate patients to a new practice in the best way possible.

Letters have been sent to our 9,500 patients on 22 February 2023 confirming which practice they will be moving to and on which date, and giving advice regarding the transfer process.

More than 5,000 people responded to HIOW ICB’s survey to express their preference, and the majority of patients have been allocated to their first-choice practice.

The patient transfers will take place earlier than anticipated, with the majority being completed by the middle of March.

Your exact transfer date depends on where you are being transferred:

  • Tuesday 28 February – Craneswater Group Practice, East Shore Partnership, Homewell Practice, Kirklands Surgery, Island City Practice, Oaks Healthcare, St Paul’s Surgery, The Bosmere Medical Practice, The Drayton Surgery, The Lighthouse Group Practice, The Portchester Practice, Vine Medical Group and Westlands Medical Centre.
  • Thursday 2 March – Portsdown Group Practice
  • Tuesday 7 March – Derby Road Group Practice

Patients do not need to do anything. Medical records will be securely transferred and the move will happen automatically on the transfer date.

We’d like to thank patients for their support during this process which we know has been a worrying and challenging time. We’re also grateful to our primary care colleagues, particularly at the Portsdown and Drayton practices for their support by offering to accept the majority of North Harbour patients onto their lists, and the work they are doing to recruit additional staff and implement the necessary infrastructure to support these moves.

As expected, the majority of North Harbour patients will be moving to Portsdown Group Practice and The Drayton Surgery, with smaller numbers moving to Derby Road Group Practice and other practices in the Portsmouth area as well as nearby Portchester and Westlands practices.

To support you with the transfer to your new practice, you will find some useful information on the Health and Care Portsmouth website.
